Society does not place enough emphasis on the intellect - that is, on reasoning and other cognitive skills.

Since evolution of mankind and its metamorphosis into a capable and shrewd living organism the surroundings have played an inalienable role for man. The society in which an individual dwells reflects the outlook of the individual and shapes hiss approach towards life. The living society is indisputable a major considering factor that entrust upon a man’s intentions. But does one’s society always dissuade an individual’s intellect, i.e. its reasoning and cognitive skills? I would contrast the statement propounded b the author. The role and significance of society on an individual is paramount. But society does not always impediment an individual’s intellectual growth. The intellectual growth of an individual may prosper or stall depending on the relative social background. One may flourish who is a part of a modern and non-insular society whereas somebody who has been living in a society where issues like AIDS and sex-education are still considered a taboo, he may be restricted in his m...

It is an artist and not the critic who gives the society something of lasting value.

The world has been privy to a gargantuan aesthetic creations devised by the i nnovative and novel creators - the artists. Be it the awe-inspiring temples of Khujarao, the ever-lasting creations of the Michaelangelo or Leonardo da Vinci or the intoxicating musical notes by the legendry Mozart. They all have been successfully in creating an ever lasting impression on the generations that followed and will continue to inspire the progeny for many more decades. But who should actually bag home the credit for the ostentatious display of art - the artist or the critic? Definitely, the artist is the one who has been involved in creating these magnificent pieces of art. He is the inceptor of the innovative and novel ideas that have created history. The vivid and lively colors infused onto the canvas by a painter or the imagination of the writer penned down to a story, the emotion and feelings of a poet given the shape of a poem or the passion of a musician recorded onto a tape are the creation...

Allocating funds to immediate or long term social ameliorations?

In the recent past, the improvement in economic conditions of many developing countries is commendable. Economies are growing at an enormous pace and competing with the superpowers. With liquidity in abundance and nurtured supply of resources, economic problems are a passé for the bourgeois. But has this been reflected to the entire workforce of the nation. Going by the analysis, a major 18% population in the developing countries is still below poverty line. A lot needs to be achieved at the social front for many nations around the world. The development bias has led to many social abuses like child labor, prostitution, illegal trafficking or organs, hazardous diseases like AIDS and many more unlisted. It is despicable to let the sufferers lead a life of misery. Many government institutions and NGO's are playing a noble cause in ameliorating the problems. On the global front CRY, WHO and UNICEF have already succored billions of victims. Funding the immediate problem cannot be negle...

Defending your ideas makes you discover its real value.

The competition in all segments of life has turned the face of globalization. Enteurepreneurs from different realms have utilized cutting-edge technology and incorporated unprecedented business plans to emerge as leaders in respective fields. But would the success and diversification around us have been possible if the thinkers would have executed their plan of action in isolation without getting into a debate or objection for their plans of action? Its indeed a proven fact that ideas jostling agsinst conter arguments tend to look up to a broader scenario and provide a holistic version to the objective. Sustenance in isolation is not possible in todays competitive world. One cannot overlook the counter effects of objectives and persist with one's own view. Its crucial to team up and analyze different aspects of the opinion from different individuals. There might be a possibility that we rule out the inevitable while incorporating a plan which could be pin-pointed by the critique ot...

Do Specialists have an edge over the Jacks?

The technological advancements during later half of the 20th century has revolutionalized the world. There has been a massive leap in the perspective of skills or techniques acquired by an individual or a thing. The specialists have been replaced by generalists who are indeed the jack of all trades, althought they might be master of none. I advocate that in the modern era we have to have an insight about a lot more things happening around us, rather than concentrating on our sole discipline or field of work. Globalization and technology has shrunk the world in terms of size. The indegenous products in a market are now being challenged by imported goods that provide performance and cost compatibility. The mobile phones that were initially used to communicate to a distant acquaintance is now a source of non-stop music and can capture important moments in your life just throught a click of a button. This has been realized by the local producers who inturn have played smart and swirved dir...

The rise of technological advancements has produced numerous scientific inventions that one would have not evolved in the figment of imagination some two decades back. The simple gadget like a remote control has revolutionized the way machines are handled. The kids being mollycoddled by luxuries is a concern for the parents allover the world. The physical labour done has been reduced manifolds. But are the present day luxuries the sole impediments in the path of an individual attaining strength and independence? The excessive use of gizmos and gadgets for our daily chores has indeed led to fitness concerns. The daily jog in the park and a little bit of exercise is an obligation for the teenagers. Kids turning overweight, courtesy the double-cheese Mc.Donalds hamburger along with Coca Cola is a common site in all neighbourhood. The problem is not only with the kids. Even young men and women face acute joint problems in their early thirties. But we have benefited manifolds from the luxur...

Should laws be flexible to take account of circumstances?

The constitution has provided us with the three stout conglomerates - the executive, the legislature and the judiciary. The effective governance of these bodies are the rudimentry ingredients for a nation to grow and flourish. The judiciary is inevitably the closest to the yeoman. The laws imposed by the judiciary are indeed socialist and irrespective of any regional, communal, cultural or economic bias. But should the laws be flexible to take account of various circumstances, times and place? A flexible law structure would ensure that there is little or very less injustince being done to the victim who would have been a scapegoat of malacious circumstances. It would take into consideration a deluge of factors before arriving to a conclusion. Notwitstanding the accused might get a reprieve and all charges enthrusted upon him might get rejected. But the primariy concern would be to keep our corrupt society isolated from the misuse of offered resiliance. To maintain proper law and order ...
