Taming Glory!

The euphoria and the megalomania surrounding the Indian victory over
arch foes- Pakistan seems to be extended. The boys in blue would get the first ever chance to flaunt a World Cup through the streets of Mumbai. Huge celebrations have been lined up for the gladiators once they arrive on Indian soil. They would be anointed, garlanded, graced and received with honor as they have achieved a fate which only Kapil Dev’s 1983 squad were able to adhere. People might call it a silly and unorthodox form of the game that any team could win by virtue of fluke. But not to forget that India has come through to the finals by overpowering teams with indomitable reputations like the Aussies , homeland lions South Africans , the talented and energetic English side that had overhauled our men in the recently held Natwest Challenge and the fierce Pakis. The first ever bowl out game in a T20 world cup with the neighbors was a crunch game that indicated upfront the kind of nerve biting entertainment to follow. Grabbing unflinching victories against such teams requires some extraordinary talent and that is rife in teams we were geared up against. So the victory carries an extra flavor of confinement attached to it.

Moreover, India were putatively underdogs before entering the tournament and Dhoni being conferred with the new burden of Captaincy on his hefty, though naïve shoulders was an expectation against all odds for India to en route from the tournament with flying colors. But with aspirations to excel and keeping worry and anxiety at bay the team were able to put up a splendid display of cricket. The young team silenced the critics who had previously tagged them as ‘Chokers’ – unable to deliver in crunch situations and the team that plays for personal statistics, a team that was efficient in seizing defeat from the jaws of victory. The team has indeed made the nation and the Indian diaspora proud and parallels itself to the great Indian corporate takeovers that have stunned with world with a silence. But the real crunching time is yet to come as India would be lined up with their most exacting cricket schedule ever – a one day series against the Oz and the neighbors followed up by the Indian tour down under. Success can take over the composure that is vital to attain a champion’s stature and complacency could highlight the chinks in the armor. It’s important to stay focused on the journey ahead so that we emerge victorious at all situations and conquer the world of Cricket. With self belief, courage and desire to yield available in plethora we all envisage that the sunny days are afoot and the world looks forward to a marvelous and rollicking cricketing calendar ahead.

Wo wo wo!!! Go india go!!! Go Varun go!!! Let me take this momentous opportunity to draw some parallels btw the world conquering 'Boys in Blue (BIB)' and Heart warming "Varun in Mumbai (VIM)" - The BIB seem to be riding high on the wave of youthful zest; VIM is writing hi-fi at the behest of newly acquired vocabulary. BIB aren't afraid of anything, VIM is as fearless in his writing.. I can go on like this jst to drive to a single point... Awesome writing!!! Keep it up!!!

The closest octagon

This entry is dedicated (sounds mourning, isn’t it); or rather written to honor my closest and dearest chums at Infy. Don’t exactly know where to begin from. But I would like to reincarnate the memories of Hyderabad. Remember the day when we got news of our postings after an extended training at Infosys Mysore. The fairytale starts with a bus ride from Mysore to Hyderabad. A fleet of approx 80 Finaclites, all filled with joy of clearing their compre’s; stepping into their professional careers. I was completely ignorant that a tenth of them would glue together so amazingly that their lives would be entwined in a manner that the threads would always mingle with the present; wherever future takes them and whatever the past impinges upon. The stay at the Woodbridge hotel culminated in moving into our new apartment. Three new folks from different regions, best buddies from college days. I was completely new to their company and not being a hosteller my entire life, brought in varying perspe...

The Masjid Mania

The military attack by Pakistan on its indigenous Lal Masjid has taken a lot of stick from the chauvanic Islamic pundits. But the audacious act by President Musharraf, whether or not goaded from US or China should be commended upon. The president has taken a first ever courageous step to thwart the malign intentions of extremists residing within the country and using creed and religion as a major agenda to fight against humanitarian causes. But the major setback came when the Al-Qaida protagonist al-Zhawari launched an verbal attack against the president and his forces describing their effort as atrocious and un-Islamic. He openly confessed that this brutal deed can only be repented by Musharraf's blood. Although such vacuous threats would have little or no effect on the President and his forces, but the country can in now way remain ignorant from the valiant efforts and courage displayed by the extremist group. Moreover, with support from major superpowers like USA and UK it would...

My tryst with Maths!

The journey has begun. Have gathered a lot of information and study material . My earnest attempt would be to wrap up the Nova's GMAT Prep Course within 6 weeks. Have started with Mathematics. Maths has always been my forte. Getting 90% accuracy on the first attempt. But its just the beginning. Wanna stretch that figure close to 100. The destination is a lot further than it foretells . The area I will have to slog on is Data Sufficiency. Never ever handled such problems at school or university. Statistics and charts give me nightmares. Being a colorblind it would be difficult for me to judge different colours on the chart. Pondering how humiliated people would have felt when discriminated on basis of Colour. Feeling like one of them now.. The 'that' and 'who' concept still amuses me. I wonder why the schools demand the manager to have a fetish for such little concepts. Practice, practice and more practice. That is what is required. Will have to set some deadlines fo...
