The first impression.

It’s been over a month and the predictions fall true. I am dallying around and LA is a chilled out place with not much ado. But not too long, my orientation begins Monday – Aug the 18th and the picture shall look different. Apart from that, I feel so elated by the opportunities that exist in this nation. Moreover, that attitude that people wear is totally incoherent to our desi’s. A smile on the face and a charm in the persona so well reflects their motivational attitude and excitement derived from work. There are so many good things to squeeze out from their culture. There are plenty of problems but encouraging words aplenty to guide you towards the lucid path. The country focuses towards betterment of its citizens and the amenities provided can bedazzle you on your first outing. The consumer is the king and honesty is regarded as a divine mantra. Even the weirdest and shrewdest of aliens take up honesty when living with such people. Currently I am excited about my part-time that’s go...

Quarter to a century!

19th of July, 2008. This day shall always be remembered for good reasons in many ways. Quantitatively - I’ve spent a quarter of a century on this planet jostling with the other species and its silver jubilee time, and psychologically – the Almighty has always been graceful and life has showered a multitude of good fortunes and blossomed moments to cherish forever. It’s been wonderful to receive greetings and good wishes from family, friends and relatives from all over. Another 17 days and I shall move to the US to pursue higher education. This day brings in tremendous satisfaction to receive so much warmth even from distant friends – whom I once feared I might loose touch with, shall boost the spirits when I’m away for long. Calls from everybody who mattered most and some bonus greetings as well. Kudos to life and friendship! Alongside, I wish to spend most of my time home with my family. I’m getting this opportunity after 2005 so trying to make most of it. Ask me my plans for tonight ...

30 days shall take me far from here

In another 30 days from this moment, I would have left my home, my birthplace, my country and most importantly my family. I might be wondering on the streets, possibly dallying in the exotic stores or probably slogging in the kitchen to cook a not-so-delectable breakfast; whatever it might be, nostalgia would have occupied most of me – but certainly shall not be schmaltz. Few days and living amidst a hectic schedule would ease things a little. Although I’m not very excited at this moment to move in with Uncle Sam as I had had been a decade ago, but I can’t miss this opportunity to pursue my goals studying at a revering university. Initially I had 4 Sundays in July to finish accumulating my stuff. Now I’ve decided to not work on Saturdays and concentrate more on myself. As per calculations I can work with half of my efficiency and still manage. On the contrary, two of the precious days have already passed by and talk about efficiency – that has gone to the dogs. I could only manage to ...

The closest octagon

This entry is dedicated (sounds mourning, isn’t it); or rather written to honor my closest and dearest chums at Infy. Don’t exactly know where to begin from. But I would like to reincarnate the memories of Hyderabad. Remember the day when we got news of our postings after an extended training at Infosys Mysore. The fairytale starts with a bus ride from Mysore to Hyderabad. A fleet of approx 80 Finaclites, all filled with joy of clearing their compre’s; stepping into their professional careers. I was completely ignorant that a tenth of them would glue together so amazingly that their lives would be entwined in a manner that the threads would always mingle with the present; wherever future takes them and whatever the past impinges upon. The stay at the Woodbridge hotel culminated in moving into our new apartment. Three new folks from different regions, best buddies from college days. I was completely new to their company and not being a hosteller my entire life, brought in varying perspe...

The Cinderella Man

A story about courage, power, determination and endurance, yet brimmed with modesty. The story about a man who made it big when it could have easily been time for many to hang their boots. The story about a life subjected to grueling hardships followed by strenuous emergence through perseverance and resolution. It’s the true life story of Jimmy J Braddick, the Cinderella Man and the Bulldog of New Jersey. The story brings notice to all tinges about the hard tortuous turns that life takes you on a ride for. But ultimately it’s the passion for glory and the love for your dearer that imbues the conviction to emerge victorious and fight all eccentricities. A must watch for all young fledgling fellows out there to fructify your gestations and stand by your sentiments. It’s not all about the puff-puff-bang associated to a boxing game but the backstage emotions chained to a sportsman’s personality. I feel elated and elevated; and am ready to fight on towards my next destination. A scintillati...

The Small Big Thing...

Looking at something small that is much vaunted about its prowess and skills has always been hard to swallow at first go. Remember of Sachin Tendulkar – the little rookie who harnessed his prowess across the globe damaging and bludgeoning the opposing nations with a mere 24x6’ willow in hand. It was difficult for the cricketing bigwigs to accept defeat at amateur hands but who could have resisted long to stand up and applaud the swashbuckling cover drive or the silken loft straight over the bowlers head. Or instead mull about the Apple I-pod, the mesmerizing gadget that has made the world swerve around in gaiety, enjoying their favorite music that touches their soul or gushes through the adrenalin. The journey from the gramophone to the i-pod has been a revelation and it would still be a chimera for the underprivileged barred from technology. The latest roadblock to human imagination before its launch had been the Tata Nano. As ‘Nano’ connotates, it’s something suggestive of a tiny li...
